NOTE: Our tools will be updated each week as soon as data from our stats provider is available. Generally, data from Sunday’s games will be available early Tuesday afternoon. For an immediate look at the games from the previous weekend, please check out our Monday Review tool which includes a collection of preliminary stats.
As I said in the introduction to the update on the game theory series, the five-figure salary range is where the cutoff should be when making roster construction decisions. When you are making the decision to build a balanced lineup or a stars and scrubs lineup, you have to decide if you’re rostering anyone from the top of the salary scale or not. There are
We’re heading to the familiar confines of Bay Hill this week after a rare unfamiliar course on Tour last week. Bay Hill is a par 72 that plays right around 7,380 yards. There are eight water hazards and 84 bunkers that the field will have to deal with as they make their way through the week. What to do With the Stud Range It looks
Last summer, I did a series on game theory considerations for PGA DFS. I view these decisions in the same light that I view structural drafting in best ball. There’s no one magic bullet to solve all of your issues and win every league you join. If you understand the way the game is played, though, you can set yourself up to capture tiny edges
We’re presented with a unique challenge this week. It’s rare that we get a new course and a no-cut event, but here we are. The lack of historical course-level stats means we have to trust our evaluation of talent[1]PRK Score and the field consisting of 72 golfers that will all play four rounds means we’ll need to play the game-theory angle. This week’s article will
We’re back at yet another memorable course in the Riviera Country Club. It’s a par 71 that plays just a touch over 7,320 yards. The greens are poa and the rough/fairways are Kikuyu.[1]It’s fun to say … try it. The Genesis Open features a much stronger field than we had last week which means that ownership should spread out at the top of the salary
Football season has officially wrapped up and we can set every ounce of our attention on the Tour now. With a relatively weak field, my first thought is that ownership will concentrate pretty heavily near the top of the board. When that happens, we’re usually looking at one or two mid-range leverage plays that make the difference in lineups. Checking The Chalk The two most
The Tour is heading out to TPC Scottsdale for this year’s version of the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Unfortunately, given the COVID protocols, it won’t be quite as raucous of a crowd as usual. For those that are unfamiliar, the 16th hole is set up like a stadium and is one of the few events where the PGA pros welcome noise. It’s a completely different
The PGA Tour is back again this week with the Farmers Insurance Open. We’re looking at another two-track rotation this weekend with Torrey Pines North and South being featured. Neither of these courses put much of an emphasis on driving accuracy and definitely lean towards rewarding distance off the tee. That information should serve as more of a tie-breaker than a hard and fast rule,
After a couple of events in Hawaii, the Tour is coming back for the Cali swing. The first stop in California is The American Express. This is a rare type of event in that there are multiple courses on the agenda. This year, The American Express will feature the PGA West TPC Stadium Course and the Nicklaus Tournament Course. The Stadium course is a fair
After an exciting kick-off to the season in Kapalua, the Tour turns its attention to Waialae Country Club for the Sony Open. It was a nice appetizer to kick off the season, but we’re ready for a full-field main course now. The course itself is a familiar one. It plays as a par 70 and is just over 7,000 yards. With just two par 5s
We’re back! After a bit of a break for the NFL season, PGA content is live once again. It’s a bit of a “soft opening” for the season with the Tournament of Champions. This year, the field is set with just over 40 golfers and it’s a no-cut event. Typically, in small-field events, I dial back my volume for DFS and betting purposes. These types
This week’s slate is a bit topsy-turvy. From a macro view, we’re missing a lot of our favorite running back targets with Derrick Henry, Alvin Kamara, Dalvin Cook, and Aaron Jones all off the main slate. Gone are the days of slates with half the games over 50 point totals, as well. In fact, this week, there’s just one over 50. Everyone and their mother…...
It’s been a while since we took a look at the pace app. We have a very clear picture of what teams are trying to do on offense at this point in the year. Looking at offensive environments for the slate is my favorite way to identify games I want to target. A few key takeaways for this weekend’s slate: New Orleans/Kansas City will feature…...
This is one of the more interesting slates of the year. Don’t get me wrong, there are some gross games, but with so many juicy matchups, ownership will be important. This feels like a week where you have to trust your convictions and be willing to stray from the crowd in certain spots. This week, we’ll go through my eight favorite games and find the…...
With breaking news each day and possible postponements looming, I’ve been attempting to get my process started a little later and later each week. The usual 2020 caveats still apply…make sure you check the news and stay up to date on what DraftKings is doing about games if they are moved. Assuming no changes, there are quite a few games that caught my eye for…...
Nothing, and I mean nothing, goes along with Thanksgiving better than a buffet. So, with three two games on the Turkey Day Slate, I figured I’d get everyone’s appetite going early this week. Houston (-2.5) at Detroit – Total 51.5 Deshaun Watson ($7,400) has been a QB1 for 25 of 41 games dating back to the start of 2018. Those lonely three lines? Those are…...
The season is moving along and our priors for these teams should be factoring very little into our decision-making process. It’s easy to get wrapped up thinking about how teams like the Ravens and 49ers performed last year, but we need to see how teams are playing this year now that we are through about two-thirds of the season. One of the most important places…...
I had to check about half a dozen times that it was actually Week 10. This NFL season felt like it may never happen and now it feels like it’s almost over. We’re set up on Sunday for one of the best days of sweating lineups in history with Masters Sunday and a full NFL slate. This week, I’ve pinpointed the five games that caught…...
A tradition unlike any other returns. The date might be different but the excitement for this week is business as usual. The Masters is by far my favorite week of the year. There are a lot of unknowns in regards to how the course will play. From a weather perspective, though, the historical November temperature is pretty close to in-line with April. It appears there…...
As a rule, I try to vary my process a bit each week. That’s probably not something that you hear about in most of what you read. People love their process, their routines, their superstitions. Whether I have a winning week or a losing week, I like to change things up after I review my lineups. One element that I always include in my process,…...
