We love it when running back prospects come into the NFL with a juicy receiving profile. That’s the case with Rachaad White, who garnered a ridiculous 22% receiving share in his final collegiate season. White played on a Buccaneers team with Leonard Fournette as the lead rusher and receiver, though the rookie ate into the veteran’s workload.
Tom Brady played his final season during White’s rookie year, with somewhat of a roster and coaching overhaul the following year. The Buccaneers hired Dave Canales as their offensive coordinator and signed Baker Mayfield to a one-year deal worth $32.5 million in 2024. With Fournette also gone, White was able to consolidate the backfield work, and finished 2023 with 14 top-24 performances, including nine top-12 weeks.
One 2024 rookie running back also had an enticing receiving profile as a prospect. This older back, like White, was drafted into an unclear situation yet managed to earn much of the backfield workload as the season went on. Is he destined for a similar Year 2 breakout? What insights can we glean from his rookie season that will inform his fantasy outlook for Year 2 and beyond?
