Week 7 was a strong week for the tight ends in fantasy football. 16 players hit double-digit PPR points last week, with three managing more than 20. It was a strong week for the streamers too, with two of the three recommended plays from your humble author finishing inside the top five. It would be lovely if we could maintain this output level . . . and by WE, I mean the actual players. They’re important, I suppose.
Stats do not include players from Monday Night Football
Here are three players you can scoop up off the waiver wire and plug into your lineups for the Week 8 games. They are all names we’ve spoken of already this season. But that was then. This is now.
Noah Fant (92.3%) vs. Buffalo Bills
I’m not saying Noah Fant has turned the corner and become the TE prince that was promised. That would be to open myself up to unnecessary heartache. But over his last two games, he has caught all 10 of his targets and posted 60+ yards in both. He finished as the TE8 and TE12. It’s not everything, but it’s certainly something.
Fant may see a boost in targets, or at least maintain his present opportunity share, with the news that D.K. Metcalf has a Grade 1 MCL sprain. The Seahawks take on the Bills this week, and teams have been using TEs to attack the Bills over the last few weeks. The Bills have allowed an average of 7.8 receptions per game to TEs over the last five games — the 10th most in the NFL. Granted, they’ve only allowed 5.2 receptions and 42.6 receiving yards. But this output, should Fant replicate it, would almost certainly be enough to make Fant relevant in fantasy this coming week. Although we’d prefer a little more if we can get it.
