Week 3 Monday Review: A Timeless Scientific and Philosophical Debate Lies at the Center of Sunday’s Biggest Fantasy Performances

Nature versus nurture. At the end of the day, the answer generally comes down to a combination both.

If NFL performances were based solely on raw athletic ability, Anthony Richardson would be the league’s best quarterback. If NFL success were the result of learning offensive strategy and proper fundamentals, the entertainment value of watching the “athletes” involved wouldn’t be strong enough to survive on public access television.

What Malik Nabers has accomplished as a rookie on a subpar offense has much to do with his God-given ability. What Peyton Manning accomplished in his final season on the Broncos with minimal arm strength and even less mobility was due in large part to the nurturing he had across his football career. What Malik Willis has been able to accomplish while filling in for Jordan Love the past two weeks is a combination of both athletic ability and offensive scheme.
