Auction drafts are easy to “win” but even easier to “lose.” Dave Caban overviews the preparation, thought processes, and in-auction strategies needed to ensure that you’re ready for the intensity and challenges auctions will throw at you and are poised to leave your draft with a contender.

If you haven’t done so yet, please read through the introductory article, Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of this year’s guide.

In this part of the series, we’ll use ESPN’s average auction values to understand how auction drafters are bucketing players into tiers this year. Remember that the goal isn’t to match precise dollar amounts to specific tiers but to identify the broader buckets. This approach will help us gauge which tiers players might fall into during our auctions and allow us to react to how our league values these tiers. We’ll also use these tiers to walk through how I prepare for an upcoming draft.
