Unless Keaton Mitchell was somehow still available in one of your dynasty leagues, this week had probably the least eventful running back waiver run of the season. (Hopefully you are the reason he wasn’t available in your league and maybe you have RotoViz to thank for that!) So whether you’re feeling needy or just greedy, making progress at this point of the season requires more than just adequate FAAB. Last week I looked at some of the elite young heroes I’m trying to acquire. This week I’m checking in on five backfields featuring players a tier or multiple tiers below those heroes to see how we can leverage what is happening now and what may happen in the near future into fantasy points and/or roster value. The message in Shawn’s more redraft-focused Week 10 Zero RB Universe article extends to dynasty as well: with playoff races heating up and trade deadlines looming, now is the time to be aggressive.
As is often the case, the late week thoughts I share here are influenced by the Zero RB Universe piece and Shawn’s companion discussions with Colm on OT and Ben on Stealing Bananas. I’m also trying to get a jump on what might happen in the games and how that might immediately feed into the dynasty value equation by keeping up with Blair Andrews Wrong Read pieces (part 1, part 2). If you’re not (yet!) a RotoViz subscriber, you can still get great nuggets on some of the players discussed below by tuning into Overtime.
On Stealing Bananas, you can also mourn along with Ben the many week 9 losses on Garrett Wilson/Breece Hall teams, or like me count yourself among the lucky who rode that Jets stack to a narrow 1.6 pt victory.
Even more helpful than the catharsis and laughs, you’ll get a nicely balanced conversation about Mitchell and the Ravens, which is where I’ll start.
