Over the last few weeks we’ve taken some detours in the Underdog Best Ball Mania IV (BBM4) advance rate review series. We’ve looked at advance rates by roster construction, rookies, and leverage points for the best ball playoffs. Today we’ll grab our wide lens and return to reviewing the entire landscape at the individual player level.
Week 5 was the last time we had a high level look at the 2023 season. We marveled at the performances of Raheem Mostert, DeVon Achane, and D.J. Moore. It goes without saying that things have changed — the landscape is generally much flatter. The stars of BBM4 continue to shine, but we’re seeing fewer major misses as the season wears on. Players like Joe Burrow, Travis Kelce, and Jonathan Taylor had very low advance rates in Week 5 but have now recovered. In fantasy football, circumstances aren’t usually as good or as bad as they may seem after the first few weeks.
Each visualization shows all players at a given position by their final Underdog ADP and current advance rate. The red dashed line denotes an average advance rate of 16.67%. Players with advance rates above that line are colored in green; players below the line in red. I will only include players drafted at least 100 times.
