Michael Dubner exposes the team positional groups he’s fading in 2023 best ball tournaments.
In fantasy football, it’s not just about knowing who you draft, but it’s also who you do not draft.
When reviewing my best ball portfolio, I like to get a sense of what individual players I’m over- and underweight on. I want to see what roster constructions I’m implementing. And what stacks will win me $3 million in Week 17. However, understanding our exposure to team positional groups is an under-analyzed aspect of our best ball portfolio.
In some cases it will be very easy to imply team-level exposures from understanding our individual player exposures. If we know we have a lot of Patrick Mahomes, then we are certain we have a lot of KC QB.
However, some situations aren’t so cut and dried. I’m excited to draft all of the Dolphins RBs, but none of them are in my top-five RB exposures.
Player | Pos | Team | ADP | Exposure |
---|---|---|---|---|
De’Von Achane | RB | MIA | 113.4 | 14% |
Raheem Mostert | RB | MIA | 147.6 | 11% |
Jeff Wilson | RB | MIA | 170.1 | 7% |
However, zooming out to the team-level, the MIA RB positional group is my second highest RB team exposure as a whole.
Team | Pos | Exposure |
---|---|---|
PHI | RB | 8% |
MIA | RB | 6% |
CHI | RB | 6% |
NYJ | RB | 5% |
NO | RB | 5% |
Exploring team-level exposures can help reveal trends in our best ball portfolio that we may not have otherwise appreciated. We want to make sure we are targeting high-powered offenses and our favorite undervalued offenses.
