Shawn Siegele looks at all the best trade opportunities at the RB position and dives into the trendy names on next week’s waiver wire.
I’ve really enjoyed our RB content this week. Bjorn Yang-Vaernet got you off to a fast start with the Winning the Waiver Wire, Blair Andrews helped you understand all 32 depth charts with the Zero RB Watch, and Corbin Young spotlighted the instant stars in RB Advanced Stats.
My look at the Rest-of-Season RB Rankings came out on Monday, and today I’m going to use the RV tools – NFL Player Explorer, Stealing Signals, Advanced Stats Explorer, and more – to look at potential deep-league stashes, buy-low options, and (hopefully) savvy trade offers.
Let’s start off with a look at the trendy players in high-stakes leagues.
Jordan Mason was the most-added player after a week in which he didn’t play an offensive snap but was active over Tyrion Davis Price (51 pickups, 129 average winning bid). With Elijah Mitchell expected to miss two months, all of the 49ers backups become priority pieces. Jeff Wilson (8 pickups, 461 average) played 41 snaps but only got 11 opportunities against Chicago. Two of those were consecutive carries from the 5-yard line that he failed to punch in.
Deebo Samuel also carried on consecutive occasions from the 4-yard line, losing two yards on the initial play before scoring from the 6. This offense has created RB heroes in the past, but it’s difficult to feel confident in (likely) committee members who also lose high-value touches to Samuel and Trey Lance.
