In Dynasty Trade Diary No. 3, Curtis Patrick reviews his recent move to inject upside potential in a dynasty roster lacking firepower at WR2.

Notes
Finishes by year:
2019 – Champion
2020 – Champion
2021 – missed playoffs
I’ve enjoyed great success in FFPC Dynasty Leagues all of types, from their legacy product, to dynasty best ball, and more recently our Rotoviz TriFlex format. This league has been no different, as I’ve hoisted the trophy twice in three years. Injuries derailed my 2021 campaign, but I’ve made plenty of moves to put this squad back into contention for a third belt in 2022.
As you can see by the roster rundown above, I have a glaring problem at WR2. In this start-2-WR format, I’ve got plenty of flex-worthy plays at the position, but after Stefon Diggs, there’s not a player I look at as a solid WR2, or ideally, a WR2 with WR1 potential.
The strength I was willing to trade from was my tight end corps. Andrews is a nearly untouchable piece in 1QB, TE Premium leagues as nearly any offer I could have sent out would have to yield a player and a pick in return. That’s not a move I wanted to make yet, with the goal still being to make a run at a title this year (we play in the perennial championship window). Everett is in a great spot to break out with the Chargers, but he’s not really carrying much dynasty value at the moment. I zeroed in on Freiermuth as the preferred option to dangle in trade talks.
Returns were near-immediate.
