Drake London May Lack Absurd Upside in Atlanta’s Underwhelming Offense, But He’s Still the Rookie WR1 (For Now)

The Atlanta Falcons selected Drake London with the No. 8 overall pick. Do the uncertainties in Atlanta’s offense block the most absurd upside outcomes? Or does the lack of competition give London a chance to explode out of the gates?

The Falcons made Drake London the first wide receiver off the board in 2022. While there are a number of questions about the Falcons’ offensive efficiency with a new quarterback — at this point it looks like it will be Marcus Mariota — and lack of weapons, it’s hard to think of a more wide open receiver room. Calvin Ridley is already going to miss 2022. Russell Gage signed with NFC South rivals Tampa Bay, while backup tight end Hayden Hurst is now in Cincinnati. In fact, only two teams have more vacated targets than Atlanta’s 245. London could immediately compete with Kyle Pitts to be the No. 1 receiving option. Does he have the talent to make the most of it?
