Welcome to Going Deep! This weekly article will use charting data, advanced metrics, and other RotoViz tools to help readers better understand the challenges facing wide receivers and tight ends in the coming week.
This week’s Going Deep Worksheet can be found at the end of the article and includes data from all games played in 2021. For a better understanding of the information contained within it, please check out this article.
As I did last week, I’ve decided to present individual matchups that I feel are worth noting as opposed to specific games. This should allow me to touch upon more flex options than in weeks past and hopefully help out more readers.
Wide Receivers With Positive Matchups
Baltimore’s WRs draw a favorable matchup with Minnesota this weekend. In particular, Marquise Brown will enjoy coverage from Bashaud Breeland, who is allowing 12.5 points per game (PPG) on direct targets, as one of the easiest matchups in all of fantasy. This is unsurprising as he’s been targeted on 17.5% of coverage snaps. The average for players that have logged 100 or more coverage snaps is 9.5%. On these targets, he’s surrendered 14.9 yards per reception.
