Bjorn Yang-Vaernet shares three RBs with asymmetric upside that complement WR-heavy roster builds in best ball.
In my article last week, I wrote about how to make the most of a late-round draft pick by starting with back-to-back wide receivers. Drafters that followed the structural guidelines within that piece will likely have one, or possibly two, running backs heading into Round 9. In this article, I will detail three RBs I am targeting between Rounds 9 and 13 in these Zero-RB type builds.
Here are the RBs that go in that range per the FanBall ADP tool.
Archetype Overview
Before I dive into the player takes, I first wanted to explain the types of guys I like in this range. In the Stealing Bananas episode “The Must-Own Zero RB Candidates from Multiple Areas of Your Draft”, Shawn Siegele and Ben Gretch highlight three types of RBs to target.
- Pass-catching backs
- Upside RBs in middle rounds
- Pure handcuffs
I will focus on category two. This type of RB is my favorite to target because the player carries a weekly floor and has a high ceiling if the season breaks in their favor. The pass catching backs are floor/stability plays, while the handcuffs are all upside. All RB types are integral pieces of a successful Zero-RB roster, but the players that fall into category two are the most important.
