We Know We Want Young WRs, But Can Draft Age Help Us Win Rookie Drafts? The Wrong Read, No. 70

It’s not an overstatement to say we’re obsessed with age at RotoViz. This is especially true when it comes to wide receiver prospects. Breakout age is one of our favorite metrics. We always prefer receivers who declare early. And draft age has long been a key piece of our wide receiver evaluation. It’s been a few years since I’ve looked specifically at draft age, so a number of questions arise: Does draft age still make a difference? And if it does, does it still help us beat draft position? Or has the NFL caught on more fully to the advantage younger WRs have over their older counterparts?

The Draft Age Gulf Is Shocking

If we split NFL WRs by their draft age and then find their average PPR points scored per season, as before, we again find some drastic results.
