Baker Mayfield
Congratulations on making it to this point of your fantasy football season! If you are looking for last-minute options for your lineup, let’s get right to it. As always, I’ll be offering a few players to fade this week as well. First, quarterback Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns. It’s been an exciting season for the Browns and an impressive last month for Mayfield. He’s now strung together four straight QB1 weeks for the first time in his career. The team is still leaning on their ground game, spearheaded by Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, but Mayfield has played exceptionally well within the system in recent weeks.
Mayfield has an excellent matchup this week against the reeling New York Jets who, controversially, just picked up their first win of the season. The Browns look to be almost 10 point favorites on the road, which should allow them to once again lean on their punishing ground game. Still, the matchup is enticing, and Mayfield should have ample opportunity to post strong fantasy numbers in Week 16.

Sammy Watkins
Wide receiver Sammy Watkins of the Kansas City Chiefs is an interesting player. Infamous for his annual Week 1 blow-up performance followed by inconsistency for the rest of the season, there’s no denying he has upside when he hits. Watkins missed a chunk of time in the middle portion of this season, but has worked his way back over the last four weeks. In that time, he’s seen six targets in three of those four games and has provided fantasy managers with a decent but somewhat underwhelming floor.
The Chiefs square off against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16, which could bring a multitude of fantasy points based on the current over/under of 53.5. Quarterback Matt Ryan performed exceptionally well last week, even without Julio Jones, and the Falcons’ ground game has been nonexistent in recent weeks. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Co. will be without their top running back in Clyde Edwards-Helaire, which could signify a pass-heavy game script for both teams. Watkins should continue to see a decent volume of targets and always carries week-winning upside.

Brandin Cooks
Wide receiver Brandin Cooks of the Houston Texans has been an exciting if somewhat volatile player this season. Known for having an unfortunate history with concessions, Cooks had played well this season alongside fellow wide receiver Will Fuller before the latter was suspended for the remainder of the season following Week 12. Cooks is 157 yards and seven targets away from cresting both the 1,000 yard receiving and 100 target mark for the fifth time in six seasons. The Texans are tied for third in passing frequency (63%) this season and run no-huddle at the eighth-highest rate (11%), both of which bode well for Cooks heading into the final weeks of the season.
