In this edition of Win the Waiver Wire, Curtis Patrick shares his top waiver targets for Week 13 in seasonal fantasy football leagues.
It’s make or break time. Whether you’re trying to secure your spot or improve your seed, getting these claims right is everything this week. Let’s get after it!
*For the purposes of this week’s article, I’ll be using ESPN “percentage rostered” data. Players are listed in the order of priority, by position. To make the most of my time and yours, I only provide analysis for players who are available in around 50% of leagues.
Quarterback
WEEK 13 Streamer of the Week
Kirk Cousins (available in 79.6% of leagues)
There are few QBs hotter right now than…Kirk Cousins?
With four consecutive outputs of 20-plus fantasy points, Cousins is fantasy’s QB4 since Week 9. He ranks fourth in passing yards and second in passing TD, with an impressive 11/2 TD/INT ratio over the period. Week 13 bring a juicy matchup with the Jaguars. QBs are consistently getting there for their fantasy owners against the Jags:
Week 12 – Baker Mayfield 258/2
Week 11 – Ben Roethlisberger 267/2
Week 10 – Aaron Rodgers 325/2, rushing TD
Week 9 – Deshaun Watson 281/2, 50 rushing yards
The list goes on. Just eye-balling it, I’d say Cousins is safe to project for 250/2 this week. Our Game Level Similarity Projections agree he’s a fantastic streaming option, slotting him at QB9 this week (19.4 fantasy points).
Cousins will face Tampa Bay (a middling matchup for fantasy QBs) in Week 14 and will be a viable option for your squad two weeks in a row if needed.
WEEK 13 Streamer of the Week – Honorable Mention
Ryan Fitzpatrick (available in 78.4% of leagues)
The Dolphins veteran has been a fantasy streaming gem this year, averaging 20.2 PPR per game and five QB1 performances.
Fitzpatrick can only be counted on for a single week since we don’t know Tua Tagovailoa’s target return date.
