In The Blitz, RotoViz writers react to the latest news and help you place it within the context of our 2020 research and recommendations.
The 2020 season has been one filled with euphoric highs and crushing lows. One of my favorite positions to track, research, and cover are wide receivers, primarily rookie wide receivers. This class has been as good as advertised, and fantasy managers everywhere are thrilled with their investments. However, one rookie wide receiver who missed a chunk of the season due to injury is making his presence felt.
Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Jalen Reagor caught four passes in a Week 11 loss to the Cleveland Browns, gaining 52 scoreless yards. The rookie was targeted five times and continued to look good despite most of the offense around him looking quite the opposite. With the struggles of the Eagles offense overall, it’s hard to trust any of their pass catchers in fantasy lineups, but Week 12 against the extremely soft Seahawks secondary seems like a get-right spot. Reagor will have some nice upside and a decent floor next week.
Preseason Hype
Before the 2020 NFL combine, many around the industry thought Reagor could push for one of the fastest 40-yard dash times in history. Unfortunately, he clocked in slower than anticipated (4.47), but he also tested quite a bit heavier than he played in college. If you check out the rest of his testing numbers, he demonstrated elite explosive ability.
At first glance, his collegiate production numbers are nothing special. However, it’s worth noting that he played with multiple less-than-stellar quarterbacks, and his play on the field highlights his incredible athletic ability. Reagor serves as a great reminder that both the film and analytic community can agree on a player and take a holistic approach to have a true understanding of a prospect.
