In this edition of Win the Waiver Wire, Curtis Patrick shares his top waiver targets for Week 8 in seasonal fantasy football leagues.
Whether through injury, snap count, or role, every fantasy owner can look at their squad and identify a player who disappointed relative to expectations in Week 7. We’ve also entered bye-week season, which means waiver activity will carry greater importance for most fantasy players moving forward.
*For the purposes of this week’s article, I’ll be using ESPN “percentage rostered” data. Players are listed in the order of priority, by position. To make the most of my time and yours, I only provide analysis for players who are available in around 50% of leagues.
Quarterback
STREAMER OF THE WEEK: Teddy Bridgewater (available in 61.2% of leagues)
FAAB: 1-2%
One of my primary recommendations last week, Bridgewater didn’t disappoint against the Saints, delivering a 254/2 line and 21/7 fantasy points. He draws Atlanta this week, a squad surrendering 24/97 fantasy points per game to QBs over the past five weeks, including 23.95 to Bridgewater himself just three weeks ago.
Bridgewater is quietly outperforming expectations (my own, anyway) this year. His current ranks in key passing metrics:
- Passing Yards (5th)
- Air Yards Completed (12th)
- Completion percentage (2nd)
As mentioned last week, Week 8 is the end of the road for this streamer. He faces the Chiefs and Buccaneers in Week 9 and Week 10.
