QB rankings and streaming advice for Week 8 of the 2020 fantasy football season.
We are (almost) halfway through the season and — contrary to what we might have believed a couple weeks ago — Week 7 was played as planned with no Tuesday Night Football games or severe rescheduling nightmares.
Instead, we were fortunate to get to watch some good, and some ugly, football.
The Good:
The Baker Mayfield vs. Joe Burrow duel you never knew you needed.
Mayfield started the game 0-for-5 with an interception but quickly rebounded with a nearly perfect performance, missing only one completion the remainder of the game and completing the day with 297 passing yards and five touchdowns in a WIN against the Bengals. The Browns are now 5-2.
Though the Bengals are now 1-5-1, Burrow is proving himself to be franchise-quarterback worthy. Burrow became the first rookie in NFL history to record three passing TDs, one rushing TD and throw for 350 passing yards in a game, ending the day with 440 total yards and four TDs. Last week marked Burrow’s fifth game with 300-plus passing passing yards. The only rookie in NFL history with more games is Andrew Luck (6).
2020 — the year you’re grossly entertained by a Bengals-Browns matchup
The Bad:
Andy Dalton is in the concussion protocol after being hit by Washington’s Jon Bostic while Dalton was giving himself up on a play. Having already lost Dak Prescott for the season, Ben DiNucci entered the game to close out the Cowboys’ 25-3 loss. Who will be under center for the Cowboys as they take on the Eagles in Week 8 remains uncertain.
The Boast:
All three of myWeek 7 picks posted in the top half of fantasy quarterback performances. The secret is officially out on my 2QB pick – and our QB1 of the week – Justin Herbert, who posted the fourth best fantasy football game by a rookie quarterback in league history. Though not comparable but still capable, Kyle Allen produced a season-best 7.8 yards per attempt with 198 yards and two scores and, though Teddy Bridgewater wasn’t able to pull out a game-winning drive for Carolina, he delivered to fantasy owners with 254 yards and two touchdowns.
TwoQB | Justin Herbert | 38.5 FP |
Streamer | Kyle Allen | 16.9 FP |
Bounce back | Teddy Bridgewater | 19.2 FP |
Jacksonville, Houston, Washington and Arizona have byes this week.
