Welcome to the game environment series. This series will provide several weekly games to target and fade, based on macro-level factors that impact fantasy production. For more on these factors, click here. We recommend using this in conjunction with our micro-level analysis, including the buy low report, the strength in numbers series, our quarterback, kicker, tight end, and defense streaming articles, and the slate of DFS analysis we provide.
Week 4 Review
Targets
- Falcons at Packers
- Saints at Lions
- Chargers at Buccaneers
Despite neither Davante Adams nor Michael Thomas returning to action, each of these games hit the over in week 4. The Chargers and Buccaneers was the low-owned shootout I hoped for in DFS, but the early injury to Austin Ekeler put a damper on it. Hopefully, I can continue to identify some low-owned shootout games that will be profitable for us in DFS. The Saints-Lions game offered lots of fantasy goodness, with multiple players from each team exceeding their expectations. While it was disappointing that Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones were limited by injuries, Aaron Rodgers and Robert Tonyan put on a show.
Fades
- Browns at Cowboys
- Colts at Bears
- Ravens at Football Team
As an advisory note, I will not be placing the Cowboys on any fade lists for the remainder of the season. Yes, the game script was the opposite of expectation, but that will be a risk in almost any game the Cowboys will play given the state of their defense and offensive tackle woes. Due to their lightning pace and high pass rate, completely fading them is too great a risk. Luckily, the other fades went much better, as the Colts-Bears matchup was a total slog, and Baltimore-Washington game finished near expectation.
