Each year there are gems to be found on the waiver wire in both redraft and dynasty leagues. Whether by injury or making the most of a given opportunity, individual players tend to surprise us every season. A Miami Dolphins running back — not the one many anticipated or predicted — offers value to those who were quick enough to snag him. Myles Gaskin continues to impress.
Miami Dolphins running back Myles Gaskin saw a heavy workload during the Thursday night victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Gaskin rushed 22 times for 66 yards and caught five passes for 29 yards through the air. He has become the clear lead back in Miami, but Jordan Howard and Matt Breida will still get a few touches each game. Gaskin is quickly picking up steam in PPR formats. He’ll get another favorable matchup against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4.
Earlier this offseason, I embarked on a journey to decode a variety of backfields. I focused on backfields that were crowded, had new faces, or situations that fantasy owners might struggle to address. I predicted the Dolphins would give Howard early-down and goal-line work, while Breida would be a change of pace and complimentary piece. I was right about Howard’s goal-line work, but Gaskin proved me wrong everywhere else.
Mega College Producer
The last running back selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, Gaskin was virtually a forgotten player. He was picked in the seventh round, with Pick 234. A rookie season that saw him appear in only seven games led many to forget about his incredible college production.
