One of my favorite offseason targets across my dynasty leagues was second-year wide receiver Parris Campbell. Hampered by a slew of injuries last season, Campbell was a forgotten player heading into 2020. His disappointing rookie season, new quarterback, and unknown health all played into his depressed value. Now, with Week 1 behind us, fantasy owners finally have a reason for optimism.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell had an encouraging Week 1, catching six balls for 71 yards on nine targets. Campbell showed in Week 1 why the Colts were so excited about him when they drafted him. While Week 1 was a solid performance, fantasy owners would be advised to wait on him a while before putting him in their starting lineups. Last week against the Jaguars was the most yards and targets he ever saw in an NFL game. The Vikings are certainly a favorable matchup this week, so he can build on his performance if he continues to see consistent targets. If he continues to show consistency, he can be a legitimate flex option in the future. Campbell has a DFS price of $4,500, so DraftKings agrees that he still needs to prove himself to be considered a legitimate fantasy starter.
Forgotten Rookie Season
If you need a refresher, Campbell was a strong producer in college who tallied more targets, more receptions and more receiving yards than his collegiate teammate Terry McLaurin during their three years at Ohio State. Campbell was also drafted a full round earlier than McLaurin, going in the second round to the Indianapolis Colts. His elite athleticism was on full display at the combine as well.
