Tylan Wallace Is Back to Remind Everyone that He’s Awesome: Week 3 Devy Preview

Now that two of the Power-Four conferences[1] have kicked off, the season is truly underway. We can begin speculating about the best teams in the country. We can make bold proclamations about college awards and we can begin scouting the top games for meaningful devy prospects.

Atlantic Coast Conference

The highlight matchup for the ACC, this week, is Miami traveling to Louisville. Both teams enter the game at 1-0 and feature some devy prospects who could make an impact at the next level. I’ve already discussed Tutu Atwell this season, so I’ll focus on Miami.

Brevin Jordan is expected to be one of the top TE prospects in next year’s NFL draft. He ranked second on the team in receiving yards in 2019 and was third in 2018. Miami’s passing offense should improve slightly with the addition of D’Eriq King, so Jordan may have additional opportunities to produce as a receiver and increase his stock. Jordan ranks as my TE3 for the draft next year, but he could easily climb.

While he didn’t lead the team in rushing, Jaylan Knighton became a player to watch in the team’s debut. He lacks ideal size for the position, but his ability as an all-purpose back should give him plenty of chances to see the field. As a 2023 prospect in a deep RB class, Knighton should be monitored.

Notre Dame failed to dominate Duke in the team’s opener, but they came away with a win largely on the shoulders of RB Kyren Williams. Williams rushed for 112 yards and two TDs on 19 carries, and he added two receptions for 93 yards in the win. Williams only accumulated 26 rushing yards and three receiving yards as a freshman, but this could be a breakout season for the sophomore. Williams was nowhere near my initial ranks entering the year, but the former four-star prospect is a player I’ll be watching for the remainder of the season.

Chris Tyree didn’t make a huge impact in his debut, but the freshman showed flashes in the return game. Since returns have been shown to have some correlation to NFL success, this is a good sign for a player who had some hype entering college.

Boston College isn’t regularly a team to watch, but with a new head coach, there’s some optimism around the program as they start their 2020 campaign against Duke. Transfer players Phil Jurkovec and Jaelen Gill are both former top-100 high school recruits who didn’t make an impact at their initial schools but could be contributors at a new program.

Holiday Weekend College Football Fun: Week 13 Devy Preview

It’s sort of embarrassing to title an article “Welcome Back Trevor Lawrence!” only for the contest to be canceled on game day. But I guess that’s 2020. This with be a slightly shorter preview than normal due to the holiday, but there’s going to be plenty of football to watch this weekend so I couldn’t leave you without a rundown of players to follow. Southeastern…...
