NFL FanDuel Week 1: Salary vs. Auction Price

Welcome back to my weekly FanDuel series on RotoViz. It feels good to be back! I’m primarily a small-field tournament player and will use this space to discuss specific players and roster constructions that many will overlook.

In a world of groupthink and biases, the RotoViz Lineup Optimizer helps us find unique and objectively strong plays required to take down a GPP. However, we’ll give the Optimizer the first week to catch up to 2020 changes.

Week 1 is always interesting because FanDuel’s pricing comes out in early August, which always leads to crazy inefficiencies come kickoff, so there are almost too many good plays available. This week, we’ll see how FanDuel’s Week 1 salary differs from season-long NFFC Average Auction Price. The following is not a comprehensive list of Week 1 plays, but it is one way we can quickly expose possible pricing inefficiencies.
