The lack of a full offseason or any preseason games has forced the fantasy community to rely on beat reporters and coach speak more than ever. It’s not always much to go on, and the accuracy can range from home-team bias to speculations around injury and depth chart standings. However, one thing we can track is player availability at practice. In this instance, one Dallas Cowboys wide receiver has been limited for some time:
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper has been limited at practice since August 28, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. The Cowboys have downplayed the situation and Cooper may still be fully healthy for Week 1, but it is notable the WR1 in Dallas has not been participating in team drills. Cooper leads a talented Cowboys receiving core that includes Michael Gallup and first-round rookie CeeDee Lamb. All three have standalone fantasy value, but Gallup and Lamb would receive a boost in value if Cooper is not fully healthy by the regular season.
Looking Back
Gallup entered last season with heightened expectations and did not disappoint. He topped 1,100 receiving yards and finished as the WR24 in only 14 games. On a per-game basis, he was the WR17 (minimum of 12 games played). His progression through two seasons is encouraging for fantasy owners, given his role in a high-octane offense.
