The Leonard Fournette era in Jacksonville has come to an end.
The former fourth overall pick in 2017, drafted ahead of Christian McCaffrey, Dalvin Cook, and Alvin Kamara, just to name a few, was officially released this morning, ending a rocky tenure with the Jaguars. Although it had been rumored that Jacksonville wanted to move on from him, no one saw a release coming. The move obviously put a shockwave through the fantasy community, as Fournette was going at 28.9, the early third round, in Fanball. Whether you loved or hated Fournette at that price, the move clearly changes the landscape of fantasy football in a significant way just over a week from opening kickoff. There are many implications of Fournette’s release, but none bigger than what happens to Jacksonville’s offense, which has basically run through Fournette the past several seasons. Yes, life after Leonard is going to be different for the Jaguars, but this could turn out to be an exciting development.
