“Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see. One chants out between two worlds … fire walk with me!” – Mike
It may not be as exciting or interesting as Twin Peaks, but the first RotoViz Staff best ball league of the off-season is underway! I’ll do my best to look at this draft from every direction imaginable, including an explanation of player selection from the drafters, draft strategy, pick value, and more.
The draft follows traditional MFL10 scoring rules and features some of the sharpest RotoViz staffers.[1]and me!
Round 1
1.01 John Lapinski – Christian McCaffrey
1.02 Monty Phan – Saquon Barkley
1.03 Mike Beers – Ezekiel Elliott
1.04 Jack Miller – Dalvin Cook
1.05 Matt Jones – Alvin Kamara
1.06 Cort Smith – Michael Thomas
1.07 Shawn Siegele – Tyreek Hill
1.08 Dave Caban – Davante Adams
1.09 Neil Dutton – Joe Mixon
1.10 Blair Andrews – Chris Godwin
1.11 Hasan Rahim – Miles Sanders
1.12 Michael Dubner – Julio Jones
The first six picks lined up perfectly with the current Fanball ADP. All five running backs boast the highest floor/ceiling scoring combination this season.[2]Note this draft started well before Cook opted to hold out. Additionally, Thomas’ median range of outcomes is a hefty two points per game higher than the next comparable wide receivers, making his selection at 1.06 an easy one.
The first real deviation from ADP comes at 1.07, when Shawn Siegele selects Hill as his WR2. Over at the MFL10 of Death, Siegele selected Adams as his first WR, so the switch is quite interesting. Adams’ range of outcomes are all superior to Hill’s, and his scoring distribution suggests that he might be a safer pick than Hill.
However, the Packers’ draft suggests that Adams’ floor might be a bit lower than the projections suggest.
