After a few weeks with debut courses on tour we’re back with a familiar venue in TPC Deere Run. We’re looking at a 7,100-yard par-71 course out in Illinois for the John Deere Classic as our last stop before The Open Championship. The course features bentgrass greens that are around tour average at 6,000 square feet. The course is dotted with 78 bunkers and four water hazards. This has been a birdie fest over the years. It was the sixth easiest course on tour last year with an average of -1.6 to par.

OFF THE TEE
You can probably tell by some of the names that have won here that distance isn’t overly important this week. TPC Deere Run gives us one of the strongest relationships between DK scoring and driving accuracy of any course we’ll see this year. Over the course of the last 19 years there have been 111 golfers to score over 100 DK points. Of that group, 56 golfers were in the top 25 of driving accuracy compared to 48 that hit that threshold in driving distance.

If you’re not hitting greens at a birdie fest track like this, you might as well book your Friday plane ticket early. Of that group of 111 golfers referenced above, 74 finished in the top 25 of greens in regulation. Hitting greens in regulation has a 0.27 r-squared to DK scoring.
