In many instances, fantasy football championships are not decided by the players who start hot out of the gate, but by those who finish the season strong. This week’s article is full of wide receivers who may not have had the best start to the season, but will (hopefully) find themselves in position to be difference makers coming down the home stretch.

Before we get into the latest information available in the Advanced Stats Explorer, just a few quick reminders about the article.

  • Leading up to the season, I looked at the five years of data available in the Advanced Stats Explorer and broke it down into four separate articles: Routes and Targets, Intended Air Yards, Yards After the Catch and Evasion, and Catchable Targets, Drops, First Downs, and Touchdowns.
  • When working through the five-year sample, we found that the 90th percentile and above generally included most of the top-24 wide receivers for each metric in any given season. The 75th percentile and above included the top 55 to 60 WRs in any given metric per season. Given that these two cohorts easily apply to a normal 12-team fantasy league, they will be referenced often throughout the article.

In Week 12 the total number of players who earned at least one target during the 2024 season grew to 212 after our Week 11 sample included 210 players.[1]

Landing Spot Instant Reactions From Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft

In the week prior to the 2025 NFL Draft, I put out articles detailing the ideal landing spots for this year’s rookie crop of running backs and wide receivers based on vacated opportunities from 2024 and player performance. As players at both positions come off the board, I will be analyzing what their new NFL home means for their fantasy value, as well as how…...

With Comps to Late Bloomers Like Davante Adams, Robert Woods, and Michael Crabtree, Can This WR Buck the Trend with a Year 2 Breakout?

Robert Woods was drafted at the beginning of the second round in 2013 by Buffalo, but had to wait six years before seeing his first breakout season. Following his first 200-point PPR season in 2018, he put up two more in consecutive seasons. The 49ers selected Michael Crabtree with the 10th pick of the 2009 draft, but he did not break out until his fourth…...

Is the Sky the Limit For This WR Whose First Year Looked A Lot Like Tyreek Hill’s Rookie Season?

Due to off-the-field issues, Tyreek Hill was not selected until the fifth round of the 2016 draft. If based solely on attributes, he would have easily come off of the board in one of the first two rounds. Hill’s talent was never in doubt, and he proved it by putting up more than 200 PPR points and finishing as the PPR WR18 during his rookie…...
