Shawn Siegele profiles three dynasty startup targets who allow you to trade down for more picks and still draft the future QB1, RB1, and TE1.
The RotoViz Overtime Dynasty Startup draft is in full swing over at the FFPC where we’re playing the RV TriFlex format. It’s been even more fun than expected, with 28 trades occurring by the middle of Round 7. I’ll have a breakdown where we compare/contrast ADP, my rankings, and what actually happened, which took some wild deviations from both.
The RV TriFlex format both influences and reflects what has become the default format for new startups across the entire fantasy ecosystem. With 1-QB, 2-RB, 3-WR, 1-TE, 2-Flex, and 1-SF, the deep and balanced starting lineup provides the flexibility to approach the league with a creative, multiple attack.
Today’s exercise will look at early-round dynasty ADP and spotlight three players who are dramatically mispriced. This trio provides priority targets for your dynasty startup and plus trade-down options if you want to use the early rounds to land foundation players and load up on future trade value.

As a framework for understanding dynasty value, I’ll be referencing elements of the Permanent Championship Window strategy that used the 2023 startup and 2024 rookie draft to create a juggernaut. It will build on insights from the Perpetual Reloading mindset that positions you to dominate from any draft position and in the face of injuries or missed picks.
3 Dynasty Foundation Plays That Also Help You Stockpile Future Draft Value
As we begin any dynasty startup, we’re trying to thread the needle on three goals:
- Move down to acquire additional future draft picks
- Move down to acquire more total picks in the high-value rounds of the startup
- Land foundation pieces
2024 SF startups allow you to check all three boxes while creating exposure to the potential future QB1, RB1, and TE1.
