Shawn Siegele breaks down all seven of his FFPC rookie drafts in the RotoViz TriFlex format. He provides his favorite options in all rounds and explains how to create blockbuster deals that help you and your trade partner win (while the other 10 managers lose).
Our dynasty approach is built on two intertwined ideas: Perpetual Reloading and the Permanent Championship Window. We use one to create the other, and to keep that window open, we’re looking to build out each of these crucial elements.
- A Foundation QB – The QB position can be overvalued out of the gates as managers misunderstand the competitive advantage that a mediocre QB provides at the Superflex in most scoring systems. But as leagues mature, it becomes increasingly imperative to roster that superstar.
- A Field-Tilting RB – The current dynasty landscape better penalizes the RB position for its short-lived nature and for the replacement value Zero RB options can often provide, but this also presents an opportunity. True dynasty champions should be far better than the best possible redraft team, and taking advantage of more palatable RB prices becomes one of the less heralded features of Perpetual Reloading.
- A WR Flotilla – While we intend to dominate the lesser positions, WR always has been and always will be the core of your team. It needs to be deep and powerful.
- Multiple MVPs at TE – As I discussed in the Brock Bowers is the Rookie 1.01 article, TE remains a sneaky option for absolutely crushing your leaguemates, and in many cases it’s possible to load up on two or even all three of the young superstars.
- A Stockpile of Rookie Picks – While you can’t always roster all of your picks in shallower leagues, the depth of our stash provides both the constant youth and the lubrication for key deals at pivotal junctures.
In today’s exercise, I’ll look at all of the picks in my 2024 rookie drafts and explain how they fit into our overall roster objectives. Plus, I’ll break down the five blockbuster trades — real trades that happened during the drafts — that are possible when you’ve acquired the necessary assets through perpetual reloading.
