Freak scores have long been a key metric we use to help predict wide receiver touchdown-scoring potential. Big and fast WRs have several key advantages over their smaller, slower counterparts that tend to lead to an increase in touchdown production at the NFL level, and thus an increase in fantasy upside. In the last couple years, we’ve also been able to apply this concept to running backs with strong success. Players like Chris Johnson, Saquon Barkley, and Adrian Peterson are just a few of the names near the top of the RB Freak Score list.
The general consensus on the 2024 running back class is that it is weaker than past classes have been. What this usually means is that there aren’t any stars in the 2024 class. That said, there are quite a few intriguing names who could get picked on Day 2 or Day 3, and whose combine performances are key components of their prospect profiles.
