The Cincinnati Bengals made a move to bolster their receiving corps on Tuesday. They signed former Dolphins and Patriots TE Mike Gesicki to a one-year deal. Gesicki has been productive in the past, and his signing seems to fit the Bengals’ approach to the TE spot in recent years. But does this move, in the grand scheme of things, matter?
Finding His Feet
Gesicki came into the NFL as a freakish athlete out of Penn State. I know, they’re all freakish athletes out of Penn State. But I digress. It took him a little while to acclimate to the NFL game. But for a while, it appeared he had done so admirably. Indeed, between 2020 and 2021 he was right up there among the most productive TEs in the game.
However, those two seasons have made up the bulk of his career production. When you look at the rest of his NFL career, it paints quite a different story.
