Shawn Siegele explores the nuances of building Underdog playoff rosters now that we’re down to eight teams as we enter the Divisional Round.
Wild Card weekend lived up to its branding and delivered in a way that regular season football generally did not in 2023. As Colm and I broke down on Overtime yesterday, the initial wave of playoff games followed our expected script but in exaggerated fashion.
I hope your results followed in the playoff contests. I’d originally been a little disappointed that so many of my advancing Underdog rosters were of the Dak Prescott, Jake Ferguson, Puka Nacua variety, but a closer look revealed quite a few Brock Purdy teams with C.J. Stroud as the late-round QB advancer, and plenty of Chiefs/Lions squads, with Rashee Rice driving the bus there.
Those largely live teams will be fun to track over the next couple of weeks, but we can also jump into the new offerings. As I type, the Gauntlet Returns ($25 entry) is 33% full, the Mitten Returns Again ($5) is 33% full, and the Big Mitten Returns ($250) is 23% full.
