It’s crunch time ladies and gentlemen. We’ve all had seasons that felt like we were destined to win it all only to have our rosters fall apart in the final weeks due to injury and bad matchups. D/ST is one position where we get to control our destiny. When Ja’Marr Chase gets injured in Week 15, there’s not a lot we can do. But when Easton Stick takes over for Justin Herbert in the fantasy playoffs, that’s actionable data for D/ST streamers. Let’s take a look at the difference-makers out there on the waiver wire.
Buffalo Bills (AVAILABLE IN 26.2% OF LEAGUES)
The Bills are the best D/ST in fantasy for the final two weeks. They should be owned in 100% of leagues, but a string of brutal matchups has left them available in 26.2% of ESPN leagues, presumably where bench spots are especially precious. With Easton Stick driving the bus in Los Angeles, their doomed season is a prime target for fantasy purposes. Stick has fumbled four times in his two games played, giving up a combined 40 points to opposing D/STs. Here are the Chargers’ splits with and without Stick:
Two games is statistically meaningless, but that’s okay. We want to target outlier results for D/ST purposes. Buffalo’s elite secondary will take on Stick and Bailey Zappe in Weeks 16/17, and should be the top pick anywhere they’re available.
New York Jets (AVAILABLE IN 31.7% OF LEAGUES)
While Sam Howell has cleaned up his sack problem from earlier this season, he still leads the league in both sacks taken and interceptions. Opposing defenses have carved the Commanders up for nine turnovers and three touchdowns over the last four games. The Jets, meanwhile, have allowed the second-fewest passing yards of any defense in 2023. Quinnen Williams should be a wrecking ball against the Commanders’ interior offensive line, which is a liability. They’ll be a top play in Week 16 and an excellent one versus Joe Flacco and the Browns in Week 17.
