Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books and that means most best ball tournaments, including Underdog’s Best Ball Mania IV (BBM4), are heading into the playoff rounds. It also means that many analysts and fantasy football personalities are sharing their BBM4 advance rates and favorite advancing teams on social media. I’ve written about advance rates in various contexts throughout this season, but I haven’t shared anything about what you might call a “drafter advance rate.” The rate at which a certain drafter advances teams to the playoffs. While I don’t believe that a drafter’s advance rate in a single year is a perfect measure of their knowledge or skill, I do think it’s interesting to look at how some drafters manufacture massive advance rates in their portfolios.
Today I want to analyze some of the top drafters in BBM4 and reveal their player exposures. We’ll be looking at the three of the highest advance rate drafters that entered at least 75 teams into BBM4.
Each visualization will show the drafter’s entire BBM4 portfolio by average draft position and player exposure. The color of each player represents whether that player had an above or below average advance rate in the tournament overall.
