Dave Caban provides a video tutorial on the revamped Range of Outcomes tool.
The RotoViz Range Of Outcomes tool uses historical data to help users to better understand a player’s realistic range of outcomes for the coming season. The tool reviews a player’s statistics from his two most recent seasons to match him with players from prior seasons that produced similar statistics. By looking at how these players performed in their next season, the tool is able to build a reasonable expectation of what the searched player’s upcoming season might look like.
I recently finished creating a new version of the Range of Outcomes tool. It’s built on the same concepts as the previous version, but allows users to more easily focus on a specific scoring format, is hopefully a little easier to navigate, and includes a really helpful module for comparing players. All of these updates and the general concept behind the tool are overviewed in the below video.
While the look and the feel of the app have changed, the underlying process of creating the Range of Outcomes projections remains the same and is explained in greater detail in this article.
