Saturday was the day the real unsung heroes of American football got their chance to shine. I’m speaking of course of the tight ends. Overall, the players who chose to participate in the athletic testing did very well. One common factor that the group showcased was speed. Eight players managed to clock a sub-4.70 forty-yard-dash time.
Here are four prospects who did themselves a lot of good in Indianapolis on Saturday, and one who didn’t quite perform as expected.
The Prospect Workout Explorer is updated with new data on every player who participated over the last few days, and offers a plethora of insight beyond just the raw numbers. Explore the recent results for yourself to find more winners and losers than just the few mentioned here.

Darnell Washington
You can’t really miss Darnell Washington, standing as he does 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 270 pounds. But if he had managed to escape your notice before Saturday, he made damn sure you know his name now. Washington ran a 4.64 forty-yard dash, the sixth fastest of the 13 players who took part. His 1.57 10-yard split was the second quickest of the group, while no one put in a quicker short shuttle. Washington’s was clocked at 4.08. Given his immense size, all of these feats are mightily impressive.
