Shawn Siegele tells you how to play the hot RB pickups in Week 13 and explains why James Cook won’t be the only sleeper to hit.
While Week 12 belonged to Josh Jacobs, plenty of additional moves shook up the fantasy landscape, none bigger than the injury to Travis Etienne.
After back-to-back RB2 performances in Weeks 5 and 6, Etienne finally jumped to a full workload for the first time. He hadn’t played on even 55% of the snaps to that point, but he’d go on to average 80% snaps over the next month.
With 83 total points, he was the overall RB3 from Week 7 to Week 10, posting three straight 20-point games before a trailing game script slowed him versus Kansas City. For context, that was five more points than Jacobs in that span. The Jaguars’ bye came in Week 11, and then he exited at the beginning of Week 12. Jacksonville supposedly cleared him almost immediately but made the decision not to risk their star. It was probably the right choice for the reality squad, but it crushed fantasy teams.
Head coach Doug Pederson has said that Etienne is good to go for Week 13, but even a small in-game setback could lead to a similar outcome as the Jaguars point toward a true turnaround season in 2023.
