Lions Reign Over Disappointing Jaguars
Coming off an impressive win versus Baltimore which felt like a signature moment to date for Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars were expected to come to Detroit and compete in a game that had big-time shootout potential. Neither the Lions’ nor Jaguars’ defense has put up much resistance all year and both offenses offer playmaking weapons that can put up points in bunches. However, the only fireworks in this game came from Detroit as they pounced early and the Jaguars, for the most part, didn’t show up to play. Jared Goff took advantage of a bad defense and went 31-for-41 through the air for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Lions cruised to the 40-14 win.
St. Brown Leads The Way
As Amon-Ra St. Brown has gotten healthy after suffering an early-season injury, he’s again showing the dominance that highlighted the second half of his rookie campaign. Following up on a performance last week in Buffalo where he put up nine catches for 122 yards and a TD, he torched Jacksonville catching 11 of 12 targets for 114 yards and 2 TDs. St. Brown continues to command elite volume every week. It seems routine for him to lose his defender and be operating freely as a wide-open target for Goff. He’s the perfect blend of a role tailored entirely to his strengths and the talent to turn the role into an unstoppable piece of the passing game. Last week he was the overall WR2 and after his performance this week, that’s where he sits again with only the Monday night game to go. This Summer, St. Brown seemed like one of the easier picks as a 2nd-year wide receiver to ascend into WR1 status. Although some still doubted the circumstances of his rookie breakout, that only gave the believers a nice discount. With his injury completely in the rearview, St. Brown is leaving no question that he is one of fantasy’s truly elite WRs.
