Thanksgiving is one of the best days of every year, a chance to gather with friends, family, and football to express our gratitude for all of the big joys and little pleasures of life.
Football fans could be particularly grateful yesterday. After a season of low-scoring and often depressing games, the three-game Thanksgiving slate featured two back-and-forth barnburners and a hard-fought effort from the Giants that kept their game close in the first half. This was the perfect day of football to punctuate a nationwide celebration.
Colm Kelly and I recorded a football-oriented Thanksgiving show this week, emphasizing all of the elements we’re so thankful for in 2022 and across the years.
The Zero RB Backs Continue to Light the World on Fire
Last week Ben Gretch and I did a full show on how to prepare your bench for the fantasy playoffs, and it didn’t take long for two of our favorites – Samaje Perine and Ronald Jones – to become much more relevant. Perine scored three touchdowns in relief of a concussed Joe Mixon, and was the focal point of my Monday article and Blair Andrews’ Zero RB Watch. Now with Mixon ruled out for Week 12, Perine has a significant opportunity to put up back-to-back big games.
The only problem? Mixon’s matchup with Tennessee projects as the toughest Cincinnati has faced on the ground all year.
Over the last five games the Titans have given up the 23rd-most points to the RB position and while holding the opponent to negative fantasy points over expectations (FPOE) in every game. They’ve faced some softer threats in that span but also took down Jonathan Taylor and Aaron Jones.
