The Detroit Lions traded up to select Jameson Williams with the No. 12 overall pick. Detroit might not be the perfect landing spot but Williams will look to electrify the motor city.
The Lions traded up with the Vikings to select Jameson Williams with the 12th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Detroit isn’t the most exciting landing spot but could it prove to be better than New York, where Williams’ old teammate Garret Wilson ended up?
In 2021, Amon-Ra St Brown led Detroit in targets with 109 far ahead of the hodgepodge of Kalif Raymond, Quintez Cephus, and Josh Reynolds. The team added D.J. Chark in the offseason and T.J. Hockeson will remain a fixture in the passing game but Wilson will see opportunity as a deep threat for Jared Goff and given the draft capital should be viewed as the focal point of the WR corps. That said, Goff completed just three passes that traveled 25 or more yards last season. This was the lowest total of any quarterback that routinely started for his team.
