The New York Jets selected Garrett Wilson with the No. 10 overall pick. Can his talents prove supreme or will the Jet’s offense — which scored the fifth-fewest points in 2021 — prevent him from realizing his true potential?
The Jets made Garrett Wilson the second wide receiver off the board in 2022. After a challenging 2021, in which rookie quarterback Zach Wilson completed just 56% of passes and threw just nine touchdown passes, the Jets will hope that Wilson can electrify the team’s passing game. Wilson will step into a depth chart that includes fellow dynamo Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, Braxton Berrios, and Denzel Mims at WR, and C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin at tight end. Jamison Crowder was second on the team in targets with 71 last season but will be suiting up for the Bills in 2022. This sets up nicely for the former Buckeye to be an instant contributor. To be fair, Davis only played in nine games last season and would have played a larger role if healthy but at the very least, Wilson should be the team’s second-most targeted player in his rookie season.
