The Jets made a move to trade up with the Giants in order to select Breece Hall at pick 36. Hall was considered by many to be the top player in the class across positions. He’s got the talent but will the landing spot bury it?
The Jets traded their 38th and 146th picks to the Giants for the 36th pick which the team converted into Breece Hall. New York used its Round 4 pick in 2021 to select Michael Carter but Hall is good enough that this isn’t a cause for concern. Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson are also on the roster but we’ll put our money on Hall being an every-down back. The more important question is whether or not the Jets’ poor offense will hinder his chances of stardom?
If You’re As Good as Breece Hall, Is Anywhere a Good Landing Spot?
COLLEGE STATISTICS
Multiple services had Hall as only a three-star recruit when he got to Iowa State in 2019, but he immediately established himself as a devy darling with over 1,100 yards from scrimmage as a freshman. In that first year, he maintained David Montgomery’s pattern of rushing for less than 5.0 yards per carry as the Cyclones bell cow, but averaged over 11 yards per reception on his 23 catches.
No back has been close to Hall’s equal over the last two years as he topped 1,700 yards from scrimmage and scored 23 touchdowns in each season.
