Christian Watson exploded into the drafting public consciousness after drawing significant praise from scouts at the Senior Bowl and then following up with a great combine performance. In the space of a few weeks he went from mostly undrafted in FFPC Best Ball to a 12th-14th round pick.
At 6 feet 4 inches and 208 pounds, Watson ran a 4.36 in the forty. At RotoViz we care about the combine testing numbers, but we’ve seen that the NFL consistently overrates track speed times. Ordinarily I would examine production first, but Watson’s combine is such a big part of what excites many about his profile. What I’m most interested in is: how does his combine performance compare to previous prospects and how much ceiling does this kind of athleticism create when a player hits?
