Sammy Choudhury looks back at the week that was to find the top plays on the DraftKings main slate and figure out how we could have seen these performances coming.
They say hindsight is 20/20, but they rarely tell you how to benefit from it. In this weekly article, I’ll look back at the DraftKings main slate from the previous week to highlight the top performers. The goal is to pick out some key stats and trends that could have helped us predict these performances and get these players on our rosters. In order to be a profitable DFS player, it is imperative to review information from the past week and use it in future roster construction and decision-making. So what takeaways can we glean from the top performers in Week 10 that will help us in the future?
OVERVIEW
Week 10 was plagued with injuries and positive COVID-19 tests, opening value across the board. Early in the week, Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton were placed on the COVID-19 list. With Kareem Hunt still on IR, D’Ernest Johnson ($4,700) essentially became a free square as the lone man in the Browns’ backfield. The last time Johnson was given a starting role, he rushed 22 times for 146 yards and a touchdown. He also played a role in the receiving game with two receptions for 22 yards. Alvin Kamara (knee) had been listed as a non-participant in practice throughout the week before finally being ruled out on Friday. Mark Ingram ($4,500) was the next man up in the Saints’ backfield and was set up for a three-down role. Johnson and Ingram wound up being the two highest-rostered players on the slate, and for good reason. It isn’t often you find workhorse running backs below $5000.
