Shawn Siegele breaks down the biggest stories from Week 4, including epic performances from Tyreek Hill, D.J. Moore, Terry McLaurin, and Deebo Samuel.
The week of the Multi-TD Wide Receiver was my favorite in years, and not surprisingly it was a good one for our preferred RotoViz approach.
A few of the highlights:
- Tyreek Hill went off for 11-186-3, giving him his second game with 35 or more points this season. His theatrics stand beside Cooper Kupp’s ridiculous three-game stretch to start the season in reminding us of WR upside. It’s still very early, but these fireworks offer a testament to the way WRs can win for you in the playoffs as well.
- D.J. Moore found the end zone! He actually made it twice, giving him a gaudy 8-113-2 line. Moore is making the Stefon Diggs jump we predicted. His stat profile foreshadowed the move.
- Light all the lanterns. Saquon Barkley exploded for 50-plus yards through ground and air, also scoring game-changing TDs in each category. He’s returning to form earlier than expected and helping to validate one of our hyperfragile recommendations.
- After I detailed the Colts’ strategic woes with Jonathan Taylor last week, he bounced back with more than 100 yards rushing, including a 23-yard TD where he made the Dolphins look like a mid-level Big 10 outfit. It’s a reminder to bet on talent and stay patient with superstars.
- Cordarrelle Patterson scored three more TDs and looked like a superhero doing it. Who says you have to draft your RBs early?
- Last week Corbin Young recommended David Montgomery as a buy-low using intel from the Advanced Stats Explorer. Montgomery took advantage of a breakout performance from Justin Fields – and a paper thin Detroit defense – to gain 106 yards and score twice. Now we just have to hope his knee is okay.
That just scratches the surface of a thrilling Week 4.
