Cordarrelle Patterson scored 18 more points during the London showcase, and the early-drafted superstars seemed to take it personally. Derrick Henry and Austin Ekeler combined for six touchdowns, including a hilarious final score where Cleveland defenders actively lifted and carried Ekeler into the end zone to make sure they got the ball back with enough time.
This was also the week where Kyle Pitts introduced himself to the NFL. Any fantasy managers who used an early pick on Pitts and stayed competitive through the first month have to be grinning Monday. With Calvin Ridley out for personal reasons and the Falcons trying to put away a scrappy Jets squad, the No. 4 overall pick exploded for a 9-119-1 line. Many more big days are in the offing.
It wasn’t all fun and games yesterday. Saquon Barkley’s injury was especially demoralizing after his exploits led the Giants to a statement win against New Orleans. We’re now down three of the game’s biggest RB stars with Christian McCaffrey and Dalvin Cook sitting. Fortunately, Barkley’s ankle sprain is currently reported as the low-ankle variety. The entire trio could be back soon.
