Shawn Siegele praises Kareem Hunt’s ferocious runs, boggles at Najee Harris’ epic reception total, and examines Zack Moss’ bid to take over the Bills backfield . . . plus, you know, actually score some points.
Many times in Week 3 it felt like we’d lived an entire season within the span of 72 hours. Christian McCaffrey was so good that it made fantasy unfair, then he was out. Devin Singletary was Barry Sanders, and then he was the backup. James Conner was done and then he was a multi-TD machine. Najee Harris couldn’t run forward and then he was the greatest receiving rookie since, well, at least since Saquon Barkley caught 91 passes three years ago. And Barkley was finally Barkley again, which may have been the most salient of all.
Week 3 again featured plenty of meaningful injuries. James White isn’t the biggest name, but I had him in a lot of my Zero RB lineups, and I’m assuming many readers did as well. It was especially disappointing to see him leave early in a game the Patriots trailed throughout and eventually threw the ball 51 times.
White’s injury forced Brandon Bolden into action, and the special-teamer led the way with four targets. J.J. Taylor (2) and Damien Harris (2) also chipped in, but that’s not how the Patriots drew it up. Rhamondre Stevenson was one of the most-dropped players a week ago. He’ll find himself in the opposite column only seven days later.
