I can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and I can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and I can do you all three concurrent or consecutive, but I can’t do you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. – Tom Stoppard

Shawn Siegele breaks down the magic of Week 1, including all the highs and lows and crazy coaching decisions.

We’ve made the move to Sports Info Solutions for our data package in 2021, and the ridiculous advanced stats will be worth the RV subscription several times over. That also means we’ll be moving to match their stat delivery tempo in most of our tools. For an immediate look at the games, Dave Caban has built a new tool called the Monday Review

Week 1 was a spectacular return to football with virtuoso performances all across the league. It was a feverish day with the remote as I watched most games in their entirety yesterday afternoon, catching up with a few extra on Shortcuts in the middle of the night. As I pen this, I’ve watched everything except for the second half of WFT/Chargers and the high-profile Saints/Packers blowout.

In the Monday column, I’ll reflect on elements from the games that might not be immediately obvious from the box score: coaching decisions that could impact the fantasy landscape, big plays that were called back, sequences that could be important and won’t be immediately obvious unless you’ve watched the game or scrolled through the entire play-by-play.

Week 1 Is Often Misleading, But One Team Already Looks Like a Fantasy Graveyard

The Zero RB Universe Gives Thanks for Bucky Irving, Chase Brown, Tyrone Tracy, and Chuba Hubbard

The 2024 season has featured remarkable running back health, and yet breakout RBs like Bucky Irving, Chase Brown, J.K. Dobbins, Tyrone Tracy, and Chuba Hubbard have still provided late-round successes and additional Flex punch. As Ben Gretch and I discussed on Stealing Bananas this week, the 2024 campaign has delivered epic performances from aging backs combined with devastating injuries to big-name wide receivers.
